About the Fire & Ice Contest
The Fire & Ice Contest is open to all authors not published or contracted in novel-length fiction of 20,000 words or more in the category entered within five years of the contest deadline. The entry must have a projected minimum length greater than 20,000 words.
Entries will be accepted beginning February 1, 2020. The contest has a non-refundable entry fee of $25. Electronic entries only are accepted.
This year, the Fire & Ice Contest will not have separate categories. All sub-genres of romance are eligible. Please see the contest rules to ensure your entry qualifies as a romance!
The contest is limited to 100 entries. The contest closes at 5:00 p.m. (CST) on March 1, 2020, or earlier if the maximum number of entries is reached. (See the contest rules for details.)
All contestants receive a score sheet from three judges, at least one of whom is a published author. In addition, judges are encouraged (but not required) to write comments on the manuscript. Please see a sample score sheet for info on how entries will be judged.
Six (6) finalists will be sent to the entire panel of final round judges!
First Place wins $75, Second Place wins $50, and Third Place wins $25 (U.S. Dollars). All finalists will receive a certificate.
